We invite you to stay at Le Manoir de Gurson. Le Manoir is a beautiful French manor house, built in approximately 1870, set in nearly 100 acres of rolling countryside, with three lakes and large wooded areas. Le Manoir is perfectly located for exploring the most important wine region of France, being situated between Bergerac, St Emilion and Bordeaux. From the Montaigne Tower to the caves of Maxange, from the Château of Montreal to the bastide of Monpazier, visit the Périgord of another era. The south-west corner of the Périgord is also famous for its Bastides, a string of "new" towns created in the 13th century, by both the English and the French, essentially to promote commerce. Later, fortified, they became very important in the Hundred Years War and changed hands many times. Monpazier is known as the finest local example. Many museums preserve the proud memories of this region. As you travel this region, discover the story of its treasures: rivers and waterways, wine growing, paper, tobacco, walnuts. Bergerac is home to beautiful cobbled streets and greenery, as are the smaller towns of Montpeyroux, Montpon, Castillon and Villefranche de Lonchat – all with their restaurants, bars, jazz and blues clubs, classical music events, fairs and festivals, shops and markets. St Emilion, 25kms away, is a World Heritage Site. Being in the centre of the important wine-growing region in France is cause enough to visit, but there are so many other things to do and see. A very warm welcome awaits you at Le Manoir de Gurson.
